Preparing Your Manuscript
Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the IJMS Author Guidelines. Submissions should be clearly organized, appropriately formatted, and written in clear academic language.
Where the journal's double-blind peer-review process applies, authors should ensure that identifying information is removed from the manuscript and that the submitted files are prepared in accordance with the journal's peer-review requirements.
Originality & Similarity
IJMS expects every submitted manuscript to represent original scholarly work.
Submitted manuscripts may undergo similarity checking as part of the editorial screening process. Similarity results are assessed in context and are not treated as an automatic pass-or-fail measure.
Where significant or inappropriate similarity is identified, authors may be asked to revise, clarify, or appropriately attribute the relevant material. Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, the manuscript may be declined in accordance with the journal's policies.
Authorship
All individuals listed as authors should have made appropriate scholarly contributions to the manuscript and should approve the final version submitted to IJMS.
The corresponding author is responsible for coordinating communication with the journal and confirming that all authors agree to the submission.
Authors should also review the Authorship and Contributorship Policy before submission.
Ethical & Responsible Research
Authors are expected to comply with applicable standards of research and publication ethics.
Depending on the nature of the research, authors may be required to provide information regarding:
- Research ethics approval
- Informed consent
- Conflicts of interest
- Funding
- Data availability
- Third-party permissions
- Use of artificial intelligence tools
- Other relevant research or publication declarations
Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, integrity, originality, and ethical presentation of their submitted work.
Submission & Peer Review
Manuscripts submitted to IJMS undergo an initial editorial screening to determine whether they meet the journal's basic requirements and are suitable for further consideration.
Manuscripts that meet the journal's editorial requirements may proceed to external peer review in accordance with the IJMS Peer Review Policy. Where the double-blind review model applies, identifying information is withheld from reviewers and authors in accordance with the applicable procedure.
Authors may be asked to revise their manuscript in response to editorial or reviewer comments. Where revisions are requested, authors should submit the revised manuscript together with a clear response to the comments received.
The final publication decision is made by the editorial team based on the overall assessment of the manuscript and the applicable journal policies.
Article Processing Charge
An Article Processing Charge (APC) may apply to manuscripts formally accepted for publication.
The APC is not a submission fee and is not intended to influence editorial or peer-review decisions.
Payment of an APC does not guarantee acceptance, publication, indexing, or citation.
Authors should review the separate Article Processing Charge, Refund & Withdrawal Policy for current charges and applicable payment and refund conditions.
Copyright & Licensing
Authors should review the IJMS Copyright & Licensing Policy before submission.
Unless otherwise stated, IJMS research articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, subject to the terms of the applicable IJMS policy.
Authors remain responsible for ensuring that third-party material included in their manuscript is appropriately licensed or used with the necessary permission.
After Acceptance
Following formal acceptance, the manuscript proceeds through the journal's production and publication process.
Authors may be required to:
- Review and approve publication proofs
- Confirm author and article information
- Provide final information or declarations
